The Emerson National Hunger Fellows Program
Award: 11 Month Fellowship- $38,000-$40,000 in financial packages over the duration of the fellowship.
Purpose: The Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship, a project of the Congressional Hunger Center, is a unique leadership development opportunity that trains, inspires, and sustains a network of leaders committed to social justice. The Emerson program bridges community-based efforts with national public policy to develop Hunger Fellows as effective leaders in the movement to end hunger and poverty.
Eligibility: Exclusively for US citizens & permanent legal residents.
Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) Fellowship, Stanford University
Award: A Fellowship – Funding TBA (Funding comes from the MacArthur Foundation, Stanton Foundation, and Carnegie Corporation of New York).
Purpose: CISAC fellows may focus on a variety of security topics, including: nuclear weapons policy and nonproliferation; nuclear energy; digital security (cyber, artificial intelligence and autonomous systems); biosecurity and global health; insurgency, terrorism and civil conflict; national security strategies; and global governance.
Eligibility: Fellowships for predoctoral individuals, post-doctoral individuals, & junior faculty.
Award: 10-month fellowship: $40,000 for predoctoral fellows, $50,000 for post-doctoral fellows; health insurance, discounted MBTA passes, and shared office space.
Purpose: The Project on Managing the Atom advances policy-relevant research on reducing the risk of nuclear and radiological terrorism, stopping the spread of nuclear weapons, reducing the dangers of existing nuclear stockpiles, and assessing the future of civilian nuclear power. Fellows are expected to pursue research with a nuclear policy focus that relates to the ongoing work of the MTA project.
Eligibility: Eligible candidates include current doctoral students in the dissertation-writing stage, recent recipients of a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, and university faculty members.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Graduate Fellowship Program
Award: $29,700 stipend (for 9-month fellowship)
Purpose: CHCI’s Graduate Fellowship Program is designed for exceptional emerging Latino leaders who want to immerse themselves in a specific public policy area. This paid, nine-month fellowship will provide you with valuable work experience, access to powerful Latino network, and a chance to showcase your public policy knowledge on Capitol Hill.
Eligibility: The CHCI Graduate Fellowship Program requires that your graduate degree be conferred within two years of the prospective start of the program. Applicants interested in making an investment in the Latino community and/or working on policies that affect the Latino population are welcome to apply to any and all CHCI programs.
The CAORC Multi-Country Research Fellowship
Award: Travel Award: Approximately eight awards of up to $11,000 each will be given.
Purpose: The Multi-Country Research Fellowship supports advanced regional or trans-regional research in the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences for U.S. doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral scholars. Preference will be given to candidates examining comparative and/or cross-regional research.
Eligibility: Exclusively for PhD candidates (ABD) or postdoctoral individuals. Must be a US citizen.
The CAORC National Endowment for the Humanities Senior Research Fellowship
Award: 4-Month Fellowship: Selected fellows are awarded $5,000 per month of the award.
Purpose: Research that embraces a humanistic approach and methods will be considered. Applicants must propose four consecutive months of research in an American overseas research center in one of the following countries: Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Cyprus, Georgia, Indonesia, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Senegal, Sri Lanka or Tunisia.
Eligibility: Exclusively for postdoctoral scholars. US citizens or foreign nationals (having resided in US for three-years prior) are eligible to apply.
Science, Technology, and Public Policy Fellowships
Award: 10-Month Fellowship at Harvard University’s Belfer Center. Stipend, benefits, and support for research and travel expenses.
Purpose: STPP fellows will focus on three major research areas: Information Technology Policy and Security; Energy Transformation; and Emerging Issues in Science, Technology, and Public Policy.
Eligibility: Both predoctoral & postdoctoral scholars are eligible to apply.

Clements Center for National Security (UT-Austin) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
Award: 1-yr fellowship: Competitive stipend, full use of UT facilities, and office space at the Clements Center. In some cases, Fellows will be welcome to teach a course at the University of Texas.
Purpose: Consistent with the Clements Center’s mission areas of history, strategy, and statecraft, applicants from all disciplines whose research bears directly on foreign and defense policy, intelligence, or international security are welcome to apply. However, strong preference will be given to applicants with a doctorate in history or whose research has a strong historical component (ancient or modern). Successful applicants will be able to spend the substantial portion of their time working on their own research and writing projects, while taking advantage of the many academic resources available at the University of Texas-Austin.
Eligibility: Exclusively for postdoctoral scholars.
The Tobin Project Graduate Fellowship and Workshop
Award: Grant- typically capped at $1,000, and travel to workshop in Cambridge, MA.
Purpose: The Tobin Project seeks applications from doctoral students undertaking new research that explores how American democracy has functioned and evolved over time. Doctoral students from all disciplines who are considering research on this and related topics are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility: Your proposed research should take place in the same academic term (fall or spring) as the workshop or the term directly preceding it (summer or fall).

Postdoctoral Research Training Program in Aging
Award: Stipend between $50,004-$61,308 for 1 year (depends on years of experience); health insurance, and partial travel support for conferences.
Purpose: The goal of our postdoctoral research training program is to produce highly skilled research scientists who have the potential for leadership in gerontological research. In the Duke Research Training Program (RTP), much of the training for each fellow is provided by that person’s faculty mentor(s) in a research apprenticeship program. A fellow carries out his/her own research as a junior colleague in the mentor’s research program or laboratory.
Eligibility: Must be US citizen, or have been lawfully admitted to the US for permanent residence.
EITM Summer Institute (Empirical Implications of Theoretical Models)
Award: 3-week summer institute: tuition and full financial support (including a stipend for round-trip airfare and dormitory housing, as necessary, plus a modest allowance for meals and incidentals).
Purpose: Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), this program trains graduate students and junior faculty in EITM, a research strategy that integrates theoretical models and empirical research to improve and expand our understanding of politics. The institute will integrate developments and findings from throughout political science, including the substantive areas of American politics, comparative politics, international relations, and political economy.
Eligibility: Preference for doctoral candidates who have completed their dissertation plan, but have not started the writing-up stage.
Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship
Award: 3-Year Funded Research Fellowship
Purpose: The Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship Program is a globally competitive fellowship program for early and mid-career researchers aiming at improving the learning, development and living conditions of children and youth or contributing to one of the Jacobs Foundation’s thematic priorities.
Eligibility: Fellowships are awarded to highly talented and innovative early career researchers who have received their PhD within the past 10 years.
Award: Up to $25,000 stipend for 1-year projects, and up to $35,000 stipend for 2-year projects.
Purpose: The AERA Grants Program provides advanced graduate students with research funding and professional development and training. The program supports highly competitive dissertation research using rigorous quantitative methods to examine large-scale, education-related data.
Eligibility: Applicants for this one-year or two-year, non-renewable award must have received their doctoral degree at the start of the award. The Grants Program encourages proposals across the life span and contexts of education and learning of relevance to STEM policy and practice. The dissertation research project must include the analysis of large-scale data. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research Scholarship (ICPSR)
Award: Fee-waiver scholarship for the Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research four-week sessions.
Purpose: The ICPSR Summer Program provides rigorous, hands-on training in statistical techniques, research methodologies, and data analysis. ICPSR Summer Program courses emphasize the integration of methodological strategies with the theoretical and practical concerns that arise in research on substantive issues.
Eligibility: Scholarship supports graduate students and pre-tenure scholars.

American Institute of Indian Studies Senior Research Fellowship
Award: Short-term awards are available for up to four months, long-term awards are available for six to nine months. Maintenance stipend per month: Rs 74,750- 89,700; Research and travel per month: Rs 29,250; Dollar supplement per month $115-138.
Purpose: These grants are designed to enable scholars who specialize in South Asia to pursue further research in India and to establish formal affiliation with an Indian institution.
Eligibility: Senior Research Fellowships are available to scholars with a PhD or its equivalent.
Rotating
Deadline: Applications are assessed on an ongoing basis, with the outcome determined by the merit of each application.
Award: The fellowship is available once a year for a three- to six-month period at SAIIA. The fellowship covers an economy class return ticket to South Africa, the board and lodgings of the candidate and a stipend.
Purpose: The successful candidate will be expected to produce a 10,000 word article on the results of the research, for publication by SAIIA, and the findings should be presented to the SAIIA branches. Some of the themes that have received attention in the past include: African peacekeeping and conflict resolution, governance and democracy in Africa and South Africa, lessons from South Africa on the effectiveness of sanctions in the apartheid era, and political party formation in Africa.
Eligibility: Open to senior researchers and academics (preferably at post-doctoral level/equivalent of an associate professorship) wishing to conduct research on a topic of international relations related to South Africa and Africa’s place in the world.

The Henry Frank Guggenheim Distinguished Scholars
Award: $15,000- $45,000 per year (for 1-2 years).
Purpose: Questions that interest the foundation concern violence and aggression in relation to social change, intergroup conflict, war, terrorism, crime, and family relationships, among other subjects. Dissertations with no relevance to understanding human violence and aggression will not be supported. Priority will also be given to areas and methodologies not receiving adequate attention and support from other funding sources.
Eligibility: Applicants can be citizens of any country. Applicants need not be affiliated with an institution of higher learning (although most are college or university professors). Grant cannot be used to support research undertaken as part of the requirements for a graduate degree.
September
Award: Program/Grant for 2-12 months. Types of awards include: Support for Research, Professional Project, Teaching, or combined award.
Purpose: The U.S. Fulbright Scholar Program offers nearly 470 teaching, research or combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars and many others.
Eligibility: US Citizenship required- different requirements per each award.
Fulbright U. S. Postdoctoral Scholarship Opportunities
Award: 3-10 month position: Living allowance, round-trip flight to/from Australia, health coverage through Medicare.
Purpose: American Postdoctoral scholarships are available for researchers who have completed their PhD in the past two to three years and are seeking an opportunity to undertake postdoctoral research at an Australian institution.
Eligibility: Must be a US citizen and not hold Australian citizenship. Must have completed their PhD in the past two to three years.

Kellogg Institute for International Studies Visiting Fellowships
Award: Fellowship for academic year: Stipend, travel expenses, medical insurance benefits, and partial housing subsidy.
Purpose: As a visiting fellow, you pursue research related to Kellogg Institute themes of democracy and human development, share your research with the Notre Dame scholarly community, and have the opportunity to publish in Kellogg’s peer-reviewed Working Paper Series.
Eligibility: Applicants must have a PhD before the fellowship begins. US citizens are able to apply; foreign nationals must have a valid passport and be able to obtain a J-1 Visa.
Echidna Global Scholars Program
Award: 4-6 month fellowship: $5,000 living stipend per month, single occupancy housing, roundtrip airline, and limited health insurance plan.
Purpose: The Echidna Global Scholars Program is a visiting fellowship hosted by the Center for Universal Education (CUE) at the Brookings Institution. The program aims to build the research and analytical skills of NGO leaders and academics who have substantial experience and ties to developing countries. Echidna Scholars spend four to six months at Brookings pursuing research on global education issues, with a specific focus on improving learning opportunities and outcomes for girls in the developing world.
Eligibility: Program selects professionals with a passion and demonstrated to girls’ education. Background in education, development, economics or related area with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
UCI Global Scholars Early Career Fellowship
Award: Successful applicants will present a work in progress to a panel of distinguished scholars. Panel mentors will comment on the Fellow’s work, making suggestions intended to increase the likelihood it will be accepted for publication.
Purpose: The purpose of the UCI Global Scholars Early Career Fellowship is to support professionalization in the field of Global Studies, including successful publishing, by fostering quality mentorship for junior scholars.
Eligibility: Early career scholars, including pre-tenure assistant professors, postdoctoral fellows, recent PhD and advanced Graduates (ABD) are eligible to apply.
Santa Fe Institute Complexity and Program Postdoctoral Fellowships
Award: Fellowship (up to 3 years). The institute provides an opportunity to collaborate with leading researchers worldwide, discretionary and collaborative funds, a competitive salary with a generous benefit package including paid family leave.
Purpose: Postdoctoral Fellows contribute to SFI’s research in the sciences of complexity and become the “new leadership for new science.” As thought leaders who shape the future of science, Postdoctoral Fellows also participate in a unique training program structured to develop leadership skills throughout their three-year residencies and beyond.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold a PhD in any scientific discipline granted within 6 years of the application deadline (or completed before Sept. 2020). Applicants must be legally able to work in US (SFI will sponsor a J1 Visa for successful candidates).

SBE Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (SPRF)
Award: Up to 2-years of support. $69,000 annual fellowship ($54,000 annual stipend) and $15,000 annual research and training allowance.
Purpose: The Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) offers Postdoctoral Research Fellowships to encourage independence early in the Fellow's career through supporting his or her research and training goals. The SPRF program offers two tracks: (I) Fundamental Research in the SBE Sciences (SPRF-FR) and (II) Broadening Participation in the SBE Sciences (SPRF-BP).
Eligibility: Must have obtained a doctoral degree in the SBE sciences within 36 months before the application deadline (or will obtain the doctoral degree within 10 months after the application deadline). Must be a US citizen, national, or legally admitted permanent resident of the US.
Japan Foundation Japanese Studies Fellowship Programs
Award: Includes airfare, insurance, settling-in and departure allowances, monthly stipend, dependent allowance, enrollment fees (may vary depending on program).
Purpose: This program provides support to outstanding scholars, researchers, and professionals in the field by offering the opportunity to conduct research in Japan. Projects must be in the humanities, social sciences, and/or comparative research.
Eligibility: Must have a PhD or equivalent professional experience.
Henry Luce Foundation/ACLS Program in Chinese Studies - Predissertation Travel Grants
Award: Up To $50,000
Purpose: Early Career fellowships support research and writing toward a scholarly product in English. Priority will be given to proposals based on the applicant’s research in China. Research in Hong Kong, Macau, Tibet, Xinjiang, and Taiwan is eligible. In addition, proposals based on research outside these areas will also be considered. Stipends may be used for travel, living expenses, and research costs.
Eligibility: Must have a PhD from a US/Canadian institution. A working knowledge of Chinese is required.
December
Award: 9-month fellowship ( November - August) with $52,000 stipend and travel allowance.
Purpose: The American Political Science Association's Congressional Fellowship Program is a highly selective, nonpartisan program devoted to expanding knowledge and awareness of Congress.
Eligibility: Political Science fellows have completed a PhD in the last 15 years or will have defended a dissertation in political science by November of the fellowship year. The program is open to scholars in all fields of study within political science who can show a scholarly interest in Congress and policymaking.
The Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship
Award: Fellowship with 1-year stipend of $45,000. Fellowship begins on June 1 or September 1, 2020.
Purpose: The awards will be made to individuals who have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.
Eligibility: Must have completed all the requirements for a Ph.D. or Sc.D. degree, including successful defense of the dissertation, no earlier than December 10, 2012 and no later than December 10, 2019 in an eligible research-based field from a U.S. institution of higher education. U. S. citizens, U. S. permanent residents, DACA students, political asylees, and refugees are eligible to apply.
CFR’s Stanton Nuclear Security Fellowship
Award: 1-year postdoctoral fellowship - $80,000 (monthly installments as independent contractor).
Purpose: The fellowship offers younger scholars studying nuclear security issues the opportunity to spend a period of twelve months at CFR’s offices in New York or Washington, DC, conducting policy-relevant research. While in residence full-time at CFR, selected fellows will be expected to lead a project of their own design, conduct original research, and write at least one policy relevant document.
Eligibility: Exclusively for US citizens. Applicants must be postdoctoral fellows or junior faculty in a tenure-track position at a recognized university.
Rotating
Humboldt Research Fellowships for Postdoctoral Researchers
Deadline: Rotating Deadline
Award: The fellowship is worth 2,650 EUR per month. This includes a mobility lump sum and a contribution towards health and liability insurance. Additional funding provided through travel expenses, language fellowship, and family allowance included.
Purpose: Program provides support for women pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the U.S. A limited number of awards are available for study outside of the U.S.
Eligibility: Applicants must have completed their doctorates less than four years ago. Good knowledge of German or English. Scholars from all disciplines and countries may apply.
