Lisa Ann Sturtevant is a Research Assistant Professor at George Mason University. She works with Professor Stephen Fuller and John McClain at the George Mason School of Public Policy Center for Regional Analysis (CRA). Her primary areas of research included housing, demographics, economic development, and residential mobility and migration. Professor Sturtevant completed her PhD in Public Policy in May 2006. She received Virginia Association of Realtors scholarships in 2004 and 2006. Her dissertation was titled Immigrant Suburbs: An Analysis of the Residential Mobility and Location Decisions of Recent Immigrants. Professor Sturtevant received her master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland and a BS in mathematical economics from Wake Forest University. Prior to working at the Center for Regional Analysis, Professor Sturtevant spent four years as County Demographer in the Arlington County Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development. Professor Sturtevant’s recent publications include Need for Affordable/Workforce Housing in Fairfax County (with John McClain), National Economic Impact of Non-Profit Downpayment Assistance Providers (with Stephen Fuller), Policies and Programs to Preserve Affordable Housing: A Review of Incentives and Recommendations for Northern Virginia, and Telling the Story of US Army Women (with Stephen Fuller and Michelle Ranville). In July 2007, with support from the Virginia General Assembly, Professor Sturtevant was appointed head of the new Center for Housing Policy research based within CRA at the School of Public Policy. The CHPR's mission is to provide high quality research on the links between housing policy and the economy in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Washington DC Metropolitan Area.
