School of Public Policy, Contributing to a Livable World

Roger Stough
Associate Dean for Research, Development,
and External Relations

Research is central to the mission of the School of George Mason Public Policy. The School has made a name for itself with real-world results produced from a dynamic, rigorous, and methodological approach to discovery. The School applies the results of the research initiatives through its various research centers to have a real impact for clients in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

The School attracts tens of millions of dollars in grants for its projects from the government, private foundations, and major corporations, enabling its distinguished faculty and students to travel the world to gather information, present papers, and investigate first-hand the issues in which they are immersed. The School conducts a wide range of research into areas such as homeland security, intelligent transportation systems, education, applied technology, and regional and global entrepreneurship.

"Our faculty is dedicated to research, and we expect our students to share that enthusiasm,'' says Roger Stough, associate dean.

At home, the faculty and students of the doctoral program serve as an important resource to the National Capital Region, providing their expertise to lawmakers, research institutions, government executives, the media, and local businesses.
