School of Public Policy, Contributing to a Livable World

Ann C. Baker
Director, Organization Development and Knowledge Management Program

The George Mason School of Public Policy's Program in Organization Development and Knowledge Management (ODKM) addresses fundamental questions of change and complexity in organizations. The master’s degree equips professionals with both knowledge and ability to act effectively in a world that requires innovation, interactive ways of working, and new concepts of leadership.

A highly collaborative team of faculty and students work across disciplines to explore the ways communities and organizations learn. They use these ideas to gain valuable hands-on experience in helping organizations become productive, profitable, and more humane.

The master's degree candidates are current and future leaders of large and small organizations. They explore new ways to work efficiently and hospitably by mining innovative sources for creative ideas and cultivating organizational environments that generate knowledge in sophisticated ways.

" A unique dimension of the program is that while focusing on the human and social aspects of organizing, we also emphasize the use of collaborative technology to support interactive learning and knowledge sharing. The program prepares a new generation of knowledge workers and reflective practitioners with capabilities needed in all types of organizations,'' says Director Ann Baker.

The ODKM (formerly Organizational Learning) Program offers two master's degrees -- one in Organization Development and Knowledge Management and the other in Knowledge Management.
