James Pfiffner was a panelist
at the From Votes to Victory: Winning
and Governing the White House in the
21st Century Conference on April 3
at Hofstra University. Pfiffner
discussed that whoever becomes president
in 2009 will face serious problems
in fiscal policy and national security
policy. He also presented “Power
Play: The Bush Administration and the
Constitution” as part of the
Democracy Project held on the Fairfax
Campus on March 24 and for the SPP
Faculty Brown Bag Series on the Arlington
Campus on March 26.
Professor Kenneth
Button presented “The
Impact of EU-US ‘Open Skies’ Agreement
on Airline Market Structures and Airline
Networks,” to the Airneth Conference
in Amsterdam in March. He also presented “The
Economist's Perspectives on Regional
Endogenous Development” to the
International Workshop on Regional
Endogenous Development: Measures, Models,
and Empirical Investigation in Brisbane,
Australia, in February.

Koizumi presented "Factors
Affecting the Choice of Mental Health
Care Providers: Discrete Choice Analysis" as
part of the School of Public Policy
(SPP) Faculty Brown Bag Series on April
2 on the Arlington Campus.
Professor Bonnie
Stabile was guest lecturer
for Mason’s College of Humanities
and Social Sciences seminar, "Introduction
to Science and Society," on March
5 on the Fairfax Campus. Stabile spoke
about her work on state cloning laws
as an illustration of the critical
link that policy provides between science
and society.
Associate Dean
Roger Stough was a moderator
at the fourth annual Mason Entrepreneurship
Research Conference on March 28 on
the Fairfax Campus. This annual research
conference, hosted by the SPP and the
School of Management, promotes dialogue
and collaborative research among individuals
interested in entrepreneurship.
