This fall the School of Public Policy launched a new
masters degree program in public policy.
School Receives $1 million Grant to Present Air Transport Safety Courses
The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the School of Public Policy
and George Washington Universitys engineering program a first year
$1 million joint grant
to research, plan and present air transport safety courses around
the world. Principal Investigator is Dr. Roger Stough. Co-Principal Investigator
is Dr. Kenneth Button. The grant can be renewed for up to $9 million over
subsequent years.
Policy Analysis Center Participates in Global Education in Manufacturing Project
Professor Rainer Sommer and the Policy Analysis Center team are helping
develop a new
curriculum for manufacturing technology as it relates to digital business.
International Commerce and Policy Students Win Governors Award
A team of four students from Professor Novins's International Entrepreneurship
class recently won the Governor's
Award for the best international marketing plan from the Virginia
Economic Development Partnership.
Public Policy Professor Dinan Appointed to European Union's Jean Monnet Chair

School of Public Policy Welcomes Students in Largest Masters Program in Years
This fall, the School of Public Policy at George Mason University's Arlington
campus was the scene of not only an orientation, but a celebration as
well. The School of Public Policy hosted all of their new master's students
for an orientation
and reception, but was also welcoming the biggest class ever as the
program saw an increase of nearly 130% in enrollment of new master's students.
New Doctoral Students Meet Faculty, Colleagues at Overnight Orientation Retreat
Faculty, staff and new doctoral students gathered for two days before
the fall semester began to prepare for the year ahead and welcome a
new class of Ph.D. candidates.
School of Public Policy Presents Pioneering Transportation Logistics Masters Degree Program
Recently the School of Public Policy inaugurated a unique
new master's program in Transportation Policy, Operations and Logistics
(TPOL). Unlike many transportation programs, it is housed in the university's
School of Public Policy rather than the business or engineering schools.

Catherine E. Rudder,
former Executive Director of the American Political Science Association,
joined the faculty of the School of Public Policy in October to direct
the new Master's in Public Policy Program.
Pfiffner Is a New Addition to Public Policy Faculty
Professor James
P. Pfiffner, a faculty member with the George Mason University School
of Public and International Affairs since 1984, joined the faculty of
the School of Public Policy this fall.
School Welcomes Distinguished Senior Fellow from Korea
Professor Sam Ock Park,
a professor in the Department of Geography at Seoul National University
in Korea, joins the faculty of the School of Public Policy this year as
a Distinguished Senior Fellow.
Russian Visiting Research Scholar Studies at School of Public Policy
Andrei Klimenko,
director of the Public Policy and Administration Program (PPAP) at Moscow
State University, will be studying at the School through November.

recently hit the bookstands. Intelligent
Transport Systems: Cases and Policies, offers a new approach to evaluating
that is applied to a collection of case studies analyzing the intelligent
transport system (ITS) approach.
