Hires Michael Fauntroy as New Assistant Professor
For more information contact sppnews@gmu.edu. Dr. Michael Fauntroy will begin his new position as Assistant Professor of Public Policy this fall. Currently an analyst in American national governance at the Congressional Research Service, Dr. Fauntroy will teach courses in public policy evaluation, urban public policy and politics for students in the Masters of Public Policy Program. He received his Ph.D. from Howard University in 2001. His dissertation was an analysis of the erosion of home rule in the District of Columbia and is currently in review for publication at Duke University Press. Small business policy is another of his areas of research interest. "Urban issues such as education, health care, housing and employment bringing themselves to bear in DC are typical of other urban areas around the country," he said. "These challenges are reflected in other cities in the U.S.; there is a national tie-in." Fauntroy formerly was a Civil Rights Analyst at the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in public policy at American University, Trinity College, the University of the District of Columbia and Howard University. He received his masters in public administration from Howard University and his bachelors in political science from Hampton University. "The School of Public
