Grants for PhD Research

When funding is available, the School of Public Policy awards research grants for dissertation research (e.g. expenses associated with original data collection), presentation of a paper at a conference, and other expenses related to studies at SPP. Any enrolled SPP doctoral student is eligible to apply for a single grant (per academic year) of up to $500 to fund paper presentations or doctoral research.

The George Mason University Graduate Student Umbrella has funds available for student travel to professional conferences.

SPP tuition for in-state students is approximately half the cost of the tuition at private competitors in the D.C. area.

Employer information sessions are offered each semester with public, private, and nonprofit organizations such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, RAND, Third Way, and the Department of Treasury.

More than 70% of SPP students are employed while pursuing their degrees -- classes are offered in the late afternoon and early evening to accommodate full- and part-time students.
