MPP student Andrew Guth wrote the artlicle, "Human Trafficking in the Philippines: the need for effective an anti-corruption program," which is published by Springer in the November issue of the online journal, Trends in Organized Crime.
PhD Alumnus Scott Jackson's article in entrepreneurship journal
Scott Jackson (PhD '08) wrote the article, "Mulling over Massachusetts: Health Insurance Mandates and Entrepreneurs," which was published online in advance of print on October 22 by Baylor University for the journal, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice.

ICP student Clinton J. Woods had his article, "Strange Bedfellows: Congressman Howard W. Smith and the Inclusion of Sex Discrimination in the 1964 Civil Rights Act" published in the Spring/Summer 2009 edition of Southern Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal of the South (Vol. XVI, No. 1).
PhD Student Checherita has paper published in ECB working paper series
Cristina Checherita (PhD student) cowrote with Christiane Nickel and Philipp Rother the research paper "The Role of Fiscal Transfers for Regional Economic Convergence in Europe" during her internship in the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt, Germany. The paper was published as the ECB working paper no. 1029/March 2009 and it continues the research she began at George Mason University on economic convergence.

MPP Alumnus publishes in journal for Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance
Tim Jackson (MPP’07) wrote “Sea Power and Domestic Disaster Response” which was published by the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance in their annual journal, Liaison, Volume 4, Issue 1.This report on the Navy’s response during Hurricane Katrina was an independent study project he completed while at SPP.
PhD Student Ryan Sutter's paper is published in Journal of Regional Analysis and Policy
PhD student Ryan Sutter’s paper “The Existence of Positive Psychological Environments and Their Impact on Regional Entrepreneurship” received first place for the 2008 M. Jarvin Emerson Student Paper competition. The paper appears in the Mid-Continent Regional Science Association’s Journal of Regional Analysis and Policy (Vol. 38, Number 3 2008).

PhD Alumna, Zhang, publishes book on Elderly Entrepreneurship
Ting Zhang (PhD ’08) recently had her book Elderly Entrepreneurship in the Aging Economy: It’s Never Too Late, published by World Scientific Publishing Co, Sept. 2008. The foreword is written by Professor Laurie Schintler.

Joseph Sany (Current PhD student) and Sameeksha Desai (PhD ’08) published “Transnational Ethnic Groups and Conflict: The Zaghawa in Chad and Sudan” in Conflict Trends (issue 2, 2008; The African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes).
PhD Student Aaron Arnold publishes article in WMD Insights
PhD student Aaron M. Arnold had his article "UN Security Council Resolution 1540 PART I: Resolution 1810: Progress since 1540" published in the August 2008 edition of WMD Insights. The article provides a general overview of the Resolution’s progress in light of the recent renewal of its mandate.
